Responsibilities:
Data Extraction:
Extract data from various sources, including databases, flat files, APIs, and other data repositories.
Utilize SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data as needed.
Data Transformation:
Design and implement data transformation processes to clean, aggregate, and format data for analysis.
Apply business rules and logic to ensure data accuracy and integrity during the transformation process.
Data Loading:
Load transformed data into target databases, data warehouses, or data lakes.
Ensure efficient data loading processes to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
ETL Process Development:
Develop, test, and maintain ETL workflows using ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS).
Monitor ETL processes to ensure they run smoothly and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Database Management:
Design and maintain database schemas, tables, and indexes to support data storage and retrieval.
Optimize SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
Data Quality Assurance:
Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
Identify and resolve data discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Documentation:
Create and maintain documentation for ETL processes, data models, and database structures.
Document data flow diagrams and data lineage for better understanding and compliance.
Collaboration:
Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data integration aligns with overall architecture.
Performance Tuning:
Analyze and optimize ETL processes and SQL queries for performance improvements.
Monitor system performance and make recommendations for enhancements.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide support for data-related issues and assist in troubleshooting data discrepancies.
Respond to data requests and provide insights as needed.
Staying Updated:
Keep abreast of industry trends, tools, and best practices in data management and ETL development.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 8+ years in information technology
Minimum education: Bachelors Degree
Minimum of 5+ years with VB.NET (Windows Form/EXE development, WCF Service), MS SQL Server development skills (Relational modeling, Stored Procedures, Performance Monitoring/Analysis).
Hands on experience with: Power Shell Script, SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services, Data transformation (ETL) and Stored procedures
2+ years with SQL Server development
SSIS, Power Shell
DB2 Database knowledge is a plus
Knowledge of Cloud Technologies is a plus
