Medical Billing – Call Center – Attorney Involvement/Patient Engagement Float

The Call Center – Attorney Involvement/Patient Engagement Float position is responsible for providing empathetic and professional customer service in an active call center environment while working directly with a patient, their insurance carriers, an individual’s legal counsel or representative to resolve outstanding balances.
The Attorney Involvement team is also responsible for researching for and filing to open probate/estate claims, working with legal representatives for patients to resolve third-party liability claims, and working with accounts that have received a bankruptcy notification.
The Patient Engagement team is responsible for walking patients through the process of a member appeal with the patient’s insurance carrier.
Essential Functions/Duties
· Take inbound calls assisting customers with billing inquiries
· Make outbound calls to validate active insurance coverage
· Collection of outstanding balances
· Assist customers with working with their insurance carriers to resolve balances
· Accurate documentation of billing activity
Qualifications:
Required Experience
· A minimum of two (2) years Healthcare/Revenue Cycle billing experience
· A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience
· A minimum of one (1) year working in a call center environment
· Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
· Must possess empathic and professional written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge and experience of computers and related technology, at an intermediate level
Preferred Experience
· Healthcare/Revenue Cycle billing experience
· Sales/Collections experience
· Experience working in a law office setting
Education
· High school diploma or equivalent
Skills:
· Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records
· Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
· Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
· Ability to prepare routine administrative work
· Records maintenance skills.
· Knowledge of health care billing compliance regulations (basic)
