JOB SUMMARY
The Government and Third-Party Liability Appeal Prep representative is responsible for gathering and preparing appeal documentation and payor specific forms for the appeal writer to utilize. This position is also responsible for submission of written appeals via payor portal, fax, or email.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
· Evaluates available documentation and follows up on any requests needed for facility records
· Prepares appeal packet for submission to the appeal writer
· Conducts online and phone follow-up on any information needed for appeal
· Maintain a working knowledge of billing regulations and follow-up collection trends with a diverse group of national payors.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Serve as a "champion" for best practices within our “I-Care” Cultural Pillars. (Integrity / Compassion / Accountability / Responsibility / Excellence)
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience
· Minimum three (3) years of experience in healthcare/revenue cycle billing environment
· Above average knowledge of various Government and Third-Party Liability payor billing guidelines
· Ability to interpret remittance advices
· Experience with post billing for all Government and Third-Party Liability payors
· Minimum of one (1) year in a call center environment
· Proficient in Word, Excel, Office 365
· Must be fluent in English
· Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
· Must possess empathic and professional written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge and experience of computers and related technology, at an intermediate level
· Organized to include good time management skills
Preferred Experience
· Ability to define and identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
· Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers in a positive and productive manner
· Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records
· Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
· Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
Education
· High school diploma or equivalent
