Medical Billing - Revenue Cycle – Coding – RN Coder
Starting Pay $63k
Provides the Utilization Review on all patient flights for all GMR air ambulance programs through accurate International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) coding, clinical billing narratives, clinical risk/medical necessity evaluation and closest appropriate facility review.
Essential Functions/Duties
- Apply accurate ICD-10 codes and clinical narrative to transports
- Maintain a working knowledge of CMS Regulations for Air Ambulance Coding and Coverage
- Apply clinical risk/medical necessity evaluation to transports
- Review transports for closest appropriate facility
Qualifications:
Required Experience
- 5 years of critical care or trauma background
- Ability to accurately review medical records and assign most appropriate ICD-10 codes for billing
- Ability to determine medical necessity and closest appropriate facility from flight records
Preferred Experience
- 1 year flight experience preferred
Education
- Current RN licensure in state of residence
Skills:
- Ability to define and identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to make timely decisions
- Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skill
