Job Title: Transcriptionist
Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Transcriptionist to join our team. In this role, you will listen to recorded audio or video files and transcribe them into clear, accurate written documents. You will ensure that all transcripts are delivered on time and meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. This position requires excellent typing skills, an attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audio/Video Transcription:
- Listen to audio or video recordings and accurately transcribe them into written text.
- Ensure that transcriptions are clear, legible, and free from errors.
- Format transcripts according to client specifications or company guidelines.
- Identify and correct any unclear or inaudible parts of the audio, using context or research if necessary.
- Editing and Proofreading:
- Proofread and edit transcriptions to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Review final documents for clarity, coherence, and accuracy.
- Edit transcripts for readability, ensuring that the text flows well and is easy to understand.
- Confidentiality and Data Security:
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information contained in the recordings.
- Adhere to data protection and privacy regulations regarding client information.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that all transcripts meet the required standards and are delivered in a timely manner.
- Review and revise transcriptions based on feedback from clients or supervisors.
- Ensure accuracy by double-checking work before submitting.
- Time Management:
- Manage multiple transcription projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Prioritize work effectively to handle varying workloads and project sizes.
- Communication:
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, or other team members to clarify transcription instructions or resolve any issues.
- Ask for clarification on unclear audio or specific client preferences when needed.
- Research (if applicable):
- Conduct research to ensure proper transcription of technical or specialized terminology, industry jargon, and names.
- Utilize online resources to accurately transcribe difficult-to-understand phrases or words.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Additional certifications in transcription or related fields (e.g., medical or legal transcription) are a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in transcription is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe, TranscribeMe, or similar tools) is beneficial.
- Experience in a specific field, such as medical or legal transcription, is a plus.
- Skills:
- Typing Speed: Strong typing skills, with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute or higher.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to transcribe audio recordings with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Grammar and Language Skills: Excellent command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using word processing software (Microsoft Word, Google Docs) and transcription tools.
- Research Abilities: Ability to research and accurately transcribe specialized terminology.
Soft Skills:
- Strong listening skills with the ability to understand diverse accents and speech patterns.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to focus on detail and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to ask questions when needed.
Working Conditions:
