We are looking to add a Pre-Authorization Specialist to our patient service team. The main function of the position is to verify benefit eligibility, review/summarize orders, acquire prior authorization(s) and partner with respective Sales Representatives for pre-authorization approvals. You will partner with a company that designs, manufactures, and market products used primarily by musculoskeletal medical specialists in both surgical and non-surgical therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Review orders, summarize medical portion of the file.
- Makes and receives calls from health insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits.
- Acquire medical chart notes from representatives through doctors and contact payers to acquire pre-authorization.
- Verify secondary pre-authorization through documentation links if any.
- Finalize the case and allow the application of the product on the patient.
- Maintain confidentiality of any confidential medical records or patient information
- Operate in strict compliance with all applicable laws.
The position will work the following shifts based on business needs.
- 7am-4pm CST
- 8am-5pm CST
- 10am-7pm CST
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 6+ months of customer service experience
- Computer literacy skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical/Health insurance knowledge
- Medicare background
- Proficient in Spanish (Written and Verbal)

Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
