Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is Southern California’s locally operated not-for-profit default electricity provider for 38 communities within Los Angeles and Ventura counties and the 4th largest electricity provider in the State of California. We provide clean renewable energy at competitive rates to over three million residents and businesses through approximately one million customer accounts.
What You’ll Do
CPA is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented team member to support CPA’s short-term and long-term load forecasting activities. The Analyst, Load Forecasting will implement quality control processes for forecast inputs and outputs, support the maintenance of statistical load forecasting models, develop standardized reports, and create insightful dashboards.
Who You’ll Work With
The Analyst, Load Forecasting, will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Load Forecasting and Analytics and collaborate with the other staff in the Finance department. This role will also work cross-functionally with internal teams including but not limited to Customer Care, Data and Systems, and Rates and Strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Load Forecasting: Responsible for the maintenance of short-term and long-term load forecasts. Responsible for developing, enhancing, and implementing quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of forecast inputs and outputs. Responsible for identifying discrepancies and areas for improvement in forecasting methodologies and data sources and performing updates to the load forecast as assigned.
- Strategic Analysis: Responsible for performing analysis to identify trends and anomalies that impact load forecasts, operations, and strategy and communicating results and relevant information to senior leadership. Research areas include but are not limited to load modifiers, electric vehicles, climate change, electrification, and other emerging trends. Responsible for analyzing large datasets using innovative models and methodologies to derive actionable insights and deliver strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Build analytical and operational capabilities by modeling best practices and collaborative problem solving. Work in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to analyze data.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Responsible for creating, validating, and enhancing standardized reports for key stakeholders. Develop dashboards that display various aspects of the load forecast, including changes from previous forecasts, growth by sector, and accuracy over time. Responsible for developing, testing, enhancing, and running queries to provide accurate and timely data to support the revenue estimation process.
- Rate Class Data: Responsible for developing and maintaining rate class data to support cost-of-service analysis. Responsible for ensuring that rate class data is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with forecasting models. Responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Data and Systems to develop, enhance, and document processes and improvements to rate class datasets and storage.
- Load Research: Participate in load forecasting industry groups and conferences. Responsible for following CEC Data Analysis Working Group meetings and sharing information with senior leadership. Responsible for staying up to date with the latest load forecasting practice trends and research.
- Metrics and Data: Lead team efforts to define, track, and report on program metrics both internally and externally. Develop dashboards and reporting tools, in collaboration with other CPA teams, to support these efforts. Utilize available applications (i.e., Jira, SharePoint) to support load forecasting and project tracking.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, or energy load forecasting.
- Degree in finance, economics, computer science, or mathematics preferred
- Experience modeling time-series data required
- Experience analyzing large datasets required
Work Location
This position is eligible for either Hybrid or Remote options. The Hybrid option requires 2-3 assigned full-time days in the Downtown Los Angeles office and includes a transportation allowance. The Remote & Hybrid options require full-time in-person attendance at organization or team-wide events 3 times per year for 3-5 days per event. All staff are required to work during CPA’s office hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm PST.
The salary range for this position is $100,729 - $151,093, with exact compensation to be determined by Clean Power Alliance, dependent on experience. Benefits include health care, a 401(k)-like match program, paid vacation, and sick leave. This is not a civil service position; however, all CPA employees are required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests form, also known as the Form 700.
