Niyam is seeking a Research Analyst t to join our team. This position is remote, and will require the employee to live in a HUB zone. This position is for 10 hours a week. If you are looking for a few extra hours a week this may be the job for you.
Summary/objective
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented part-time Research Analyst to support our internal Centers of Competency (CoCs) in data, cloud, geographic information systems (GIS), and/or project management. This position is designed for a HUBZone-qualified candidate who will help curate emerging trends, tools, and best practices across these domains, with an emphasis on public-sector applications.
This is an entry-level, flexible remote position (10 hours/week), ideal for someone looking to gain exposure to technology, project delivery methods, and public-sector innovation.
Emerging Tech & Best Practices Research
- Identify and read articles, blog posts, and reports on data, cloud, GIS, project management, and related government technology.
- Summarize key takeaways into short internal briefs (~1–2 paragraphs per item).
- Highlight implications for government or mission use cases.
- Maintain a shared “Tech & Trends” tracker for the CoCs.
Content Creation
- Draft one-pager templates for internal “Tool of the Week” or “Best Practice Spotlight” series.
- Assist with posting or drafting Microsoft Teams updates on behalf of CoC leads.
- Suggest topics for internal blogs or newsletters based on industry trends.
Knowledgebase & Organization
- Tag and organize useful datasets, tools, frameworks, templates, and reference materials into SharePoint.
- Help maintain a catalog of recommended resources for data, cloud, GIS, and project management topics.
Basic Competitive & Market Research
- Review competitor capabilities in data, cloud, GIS, or project management.
- Summarize competitor strategies, white papers, or success stories.
- Research target agency use cases and initiatives.
Light Administrative Support
- Create simple slides or visuals for internal CoC presentations.
- Develop icebreaker questions, document meeting notes, and take action items during CoC sessions.
- Help coordinate rotating schedules for discussion topics or knowledge shares.
- Track team member contributions and attendance across meetings.
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Required education and experience
- High School Degree
- Strong reading comprehension and writing skills.
- Basic knowledge in technology, GIS, cloud, data, project management, or public-sector innovation.
- Comfortable using basic tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Docs.
- Familiarity with X, LinkedIn, Medium, or newsletter tools.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
- May work from any country that meets legal requirements, passes background checks, and maintains authorization to work. Must reside in a HUBZone-designated area (verification required).
