Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for supporting The Collection Department at Marine Credit Union. This collaborative role ensures that members receive comprehensive support while the credit union effectively manages its risk through oversight of bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession and legal efforts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administrate collection processes relating to foreclosure, repossession, bankruptcy and legal
- Monitor collection processes and activity to ensure loan collection and risk mitigation efforts are effective and meet MCU standards
- Ensure data quality by generating reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Audit repossession documents for completeness and accuracy, and identify trends and issues
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to debt collection and foreclosure.
- Manage real estate owned (REO) properties, including valuation, maintenance, and sale.
- Coordinate with real estate agents and property managers
- Prepare and manage legal documents related to foreclosure, repossession, and bankruptcy
- Log all Bankruptcy filings, including notifications and updates through PACER
- Post and Monitor Bankruptcy payments and initiate modification according to policy & procedures
- Assist with additional analysis and report generation from the Lending Administration Department as required
- Assist with loan charge off processing and other Lending Administration tasks as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of lending and underwriting that aligns with Marine Credit Union lending and collections practices
- Ability to negotiate repayment plans and settlements that are beneficial for both the member and the credit union.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Average to Advanced skills in use of MS-Office products (esp. Excel, Word, & Outlook)
Experience:
- Previous collections experience including repossession, judgment and garnishment
- Previous Consumer or Mortgage Lending experience is preferred
- Experience working in a process-oriented environment with importance placed on attention to detail
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):
Long periods of sitting, talking, and listening are required. Use of a motor vehicle, lifting 15 pounds, extended use of a computer, and use of a telephone are also required.
