*** Tennessee, Campbellsville, KY (must live 30 miles within Campbellsville, KY), TX, WY, and Aiken, South Carolina (60 miles)***
POSITION SUMMARY
The Registration Referral Specialist maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate referral documentation to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety. They ensure that each registration is complete and accurate, including patient demographics and current insurance information. They also the contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
- Navigate in client systems and other insurance web sites.
- Using the client system the incumbent will find orders for Radiology scans (such as CT’s, MRI’s and PET scans).
- Initiate authorization requests for scans via web, fax, or phone calls to insurance companies.
- Answer clinical questions about the patient’s condition in order to obtain the authorization prior to the date of service.
- Communicate with the doctor in a professional manner in cases where the company needs additional information about the patient; i.e., a case has been denied and the company needs the provider to call the insurance to speak with the nurse, and advise of authorization when necessary.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with identified service providers.
- Be the system navigator and point of contact for patients and families having direct access for asking questions and raising concerns.
- Assemble information concerning patient's clinical background and referral needs.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM EST (7:00AM - 4:00PM CST)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and briefly, utilizing proper grammar and telephone etiquette.
- Prior PC and keyboard knowledge is required.
- Ability to compute basic math calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages is required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Exceptional customer service skills consisting of verbal and written communication.
- Ability to converse and respond to common inquiries from consumers and members of the general public.
- Ability to write business-related documents such as letters, emails and other business correspondence as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee works in a temperature-controlled office environment. The employee sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours, answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone, types on a standard keyboard, and reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources.
