We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. DME experience is a must. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in accurately billing all orders and ensuring that daily goals are met. Your responsibilities will include reviewing scripts and medical documentation, verifying delivery paperwork, and communicating any billing or delivery concerns. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare or durable medical experience and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Job Duties
- Communicates effectively with the Billing Supervisor to stay updated on departmental needs, trends in received documentation, and claim rejections.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with the professional reimbursement program, ensuring adherence to current payment guidelines, legislative regulations, HIPAA, JCAHO, and other compliance requirements.
- Monitors and communicates changes in reimbursement/payment rules and legislative regulations impacting medical billing.
- Reviews authorizations, detailed prescriptions, and verifications within the workgroup to ensure accurate claim submissions for revenue.
- Checks equipment charts and delivery tickets for completeness according to insurance guidelines, ensuring proper modifiers and authorization numbers are included for claim submission and payment.
- Ensures all orders are billed within 72 hours of task creation to meet daily goals.
- Works on correcting and resubmitting denied or rejected claims, particularly those related to demographics or modifiers.
- Manages the Stop and Hold report and denial reports in Brightree, ensuring timely acquisition of documentation to prevent denials.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in medical billing or completed Medical Billing training.
- DME experience required
- BrighTree experience preferred
- A background in healthcare industry experience and knowledge is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Works efficiently with a minimal supervision, demonstrating independent judgement within established guidelines.
