Overview
The Payroll Manager will manage payroll data, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and oversee payroll team members.
Summary / Responsibilities:
- Oversight of internal and external compliance requirements, regulations, and confidentiality provisions for the tax team.
- Subject matter expert/resource for the tax team and external clients.
- Overall maintenance and development of procedures and policies related to the payroll tax department with an understanding of their correlation to other cross-department impacts.
- Assure all Federal, State, and Local payroll tax liabilities and associated regulatory tax filings are completed 100% accurately and on time.
- Oversight and collaborative relationship management with 3rd party payroll tax system provider to ensure long-term solution stability related to our business.
- Actively participate with the management team in cross-functional business improvement initiatives.
- Manage and oversee payroll team members, providing guidance and direction as needed
- Oversee that payroll payments are accurate and timely, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
- Manage payroll data, including employee records, salary changes, and timekeeping information
- Verify the accuracy of payroll data and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters
- Maintain knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, vendors, and industry organizations
- Develop and implement payroll strategies that align with business goals and objectives
- Analyze payroll data and provide insights and recommendations to senior management
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and provide support for special projects as needed
Qualifications:
Education & Industry Experience
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in payroll software and systems like Kronos, ADP, Workday, SAP, or Oracle.
- Strong project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering results on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex information to senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations related to payroll is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Related Discipline plus 8+ years’ experience in the Payroll Tax field
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Strong verbal communication and listening skill
- Possesses strong technical aptitude.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage others.
- Payroll tax field: 8 years (Required)
- Payroll tax management: 5 years (Required)
