We are seeking an exceptionally talented individual to improve our analytic capabilities. The data scientists will drive innovation in the AFT Inbound system by developing new techniques and analytics for experimentation and prediction use cases. With a sprawling global supply chain encompassing a diverse range of suppliers, products, transportation methods, and building types, Amazon's logistics network is a complex web. The data scientist will join a group with a broad charter and stakeholders across Amazon operations. In this role, you will work in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments.
You must be passionate about working with large datasets and solving complex business questions with data insights. A successful candidate must have advanced data querying, quantitative, and modeling techniques. Expertise in synthesizing and communicating insights and recommendations to varying business and tech audiences will be critical in this role.
Key job responsibilities
The data scientist will perform deep dives across various system inputs/outputs, connect to key performance indicators through observational and simulation data, and detect anomalies to identify problems in our systems. The scientist will collaborate with software development engineers, other scientists, and business teams to reimagine the AFT Inbound space.
You will
• Conduct hands-on data analysis, build large-scale machine-learning models and pipeline
• Work closely with software engineers on detailed requirements, technical designs, and implementation of end-to-end solutions in production
• Run regular A/B experiments, gather data, perform statistical analysis, and communicate the impact to senior management
• Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analysis, machine-learning model development, model validation, and serving.

Inbound
AFT’s Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazon’s vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.
Amazon is investing heavily in building a world-class inventory receive system. You will develop and deploy innovation to enable accurate receiving and processing of inventory with optimal flow and visibility through the supply chain. You will be the architect who defines the critical data flow to effectively handle the variations in supplier packaging, signals, and carrier-specific intricacies and reimagine the optimal building flow.

Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
• 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
• Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science, or Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional or military experience
• Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc. experience
• Experience managing data pipelines
• Experience with Machine Learning and Generative AI
• Experience documenting modeling for technical and business leaders
• Experience working with scientists, economists, software developers, or product managers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
