TITLE: PACKAGING TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1 ... LOCATION: PASCO, WASHINGTON
COMPENSTATION: $24.00 / HOUR
Purpose
To perform maintenance duties such as; preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, breakdowns, evaluate line efficiency, interface between line operators, and quality control. Assist the Technical Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
• Operate packaging line functions including scale, bagger, metal detector, and check weight.
• Operate one packaging line at 95% efficiency.
• Manage and control features on the packaging equipment.
• Maintain all equipment in working condition by frequent preventative maintenance.
• May be asked to rotate to a different area of the plant (same position and shift) based on business need.
• Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

• Minimum of 1 year as a Packaging Technician Trainee experience or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge on operations of all packaging line functions including: scale, bagger, metal detector, and check-weight.
• Must have general computer knowledge (Microsoft Windows).
• Ability to add, subtract and multiply whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Must pass Grimmway’s basic electrical safety training.
• Must understand and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Must pass Quality Control GMP testing.
• Must follow and comply with all company safety policies including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
• Must train on all aspects of safety as it pertains to the maintenance and repair of dangerous and potentially dangerous machinery.
• Must be able to read and understand all applicable training and safety materials.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must have a friendly and productive attitude and support all production activities as required.
• Must demonstrate willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
• Ensure all equipment is operating properly and efficiently.
• May be required to work overtime or Saturdays depending on business need.
• Must have the ability to travel: Travel requirements will be 3 to 4 weeks at a time to support seasonal operations. Candidate will be required to live in either Pasco Washington or Lake Park, Georgia or within commuting distance of either facility.
• Must be able to read and understand written information in English.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.
• Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Ability to work on and build equipment. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
