About the Role
You own the backlog and delivery execution for a product engineering squad — writing user stories, driving delivery cadence, coordinating releases, and making sure your team always has clear, well-defined work ready to build. Your Product Manager sets the strategic direction and you figure out how to ship it. This role operates in a regulated environment spanning financial services compliance and telephony regulations, so precision, attention to detail, and comfort navigating regulatory constraints are essential.
Compensation This position offers $74,000-$76,000 depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
Primary Responsibilities & Expectations
Backlog Ownership & Delivery Management. You own the team backlog end-to-end. You lead grooming sessions, iteration planning, and reviews. You prioritize bugs and tech debt within the guardrails your PM sets, and you raise the flag early when estimates exceed plan.
Requirements & Story Craft. You write user stories and acceptance criteria independently from PM-provided problem statements. You break epics into well-sized, shippable tickets and ensure the team has a clear "definition of ready" before work begins.
Release Coordination. You own release readiness for your squad — coordinating with Product Operations on communications, documentation, and training. You manage day-to-day scope trade-offs to protect delivery commitments.
Acceptance & Quality. You verify that completed work meets specified requirements. You track squad delivery metrics — throughput, cycle time, bug rate — and use that data to improve predictability over time.
Stakeholder Communication. You communicate delivery status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to your PM and engineering leadership. You proactively surface blockers and represent your squad's progress in team-level reviews.
UX Collaboration. You partner with UX to ensure design intent carries through to implementation. You participate in design reviews and help the team navigate trade-offs between ideal experience and delivery constraints.
Process Improvement. You identify and fix delivery process bottlenecks. You share what works across squads and help onboard new team members into the delivery workflow.
We also require access to a private & secure workspace, free from distractions, being accessible during the assigned work schedule for regular duties and responsibilities as outlined by the supervisor along with an internet connection with speeds of 5 Megabits down / 3 Megabits up (5mbps/3mbps)
Skills and Qualifications
Strong Technical Acumen. You understand system dependencies, can have meaningful conversations with engineers about architecture and trade-offs, and know when to push back on scope versus defer to engineering judgment. You don't write code, but you need to follow what's happening under the hood.
Detail-Oriented in a Regulated Environment. This product operates under financial services and telephony regulations. You catch edge cases, write precise acceptance criteria, and understand that "close enough" doesn't work when compliance is on the line.
Fast Learner. You pick up new domains, systems, and regulatory context quickly. You ask good questions, build mental models fast, and don't need to be told things twice.
Strong Communication Skills. You can articulate requirements, trade-offs, and delivery status to both engineers and business stakeholders with equal clarity.
Independent Execution. You manage a backlog and delivery cadence without daily oversight. You know when to make the call yourself and when to escalate.
Analytical Thinking. You use data — delivery metrics, usage signals, user feedback — to make informed decisions, not just gut calls.
Agile Delivery Experience. You've worked in agile environments and understand the mechanics of iterative delivery — backlog grooming, story sizing, retrospectives, continuous improvement.
3–5 years of experience in a product owner, business analyst, or similar delivery-focused product role. B2B SaaS experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with financial services, insurance, or marketing technology is a plus
Tooling Proficiency. Experience with ClickUp — or a comparable tool such as Jira or Asana — for backlog and ticket management is expected. You're equally comfortable in Notion for documentation and knowledge management, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) for collaboration and reporting.
Data & Spreadsheet Competency. You're comfortable building and interpreting spreadsheet formulas in Excel or Google Sheets.
Priority Management. You manage multiple competing workstreams without losing sight of what matters most. You make deliberate, well-reasoned prioritization decisions and communicate them clearly to your team and stakeholders — without needing constant direction from above.
Stakeholder Management. You navigate requests and competing priorities from multiple stakeholders with professionalism and composure. You know how to say no — or "not yet" — without burning bridges, and you keep people appropriately informed without over-communicating.
Accountability & Follow-Through. You finish what you start. You track your own commitments, surface risks before they become misses, and take ownership of outcomes — not just outputs.
Agile Product Development & Delivery Lifecycle Experience. You've worked end-to-end through agile delivery cycles — from discovery and story-writing through sprint execution, release, and retrospective. You understand how work flows through a product team and know what "done" actually means at each stage.
Growth
FMG has a defined career framework for product professionals with clear expectations at each level. This role has growth paths into senior execution leadership as well as product management for those who develop strategic and discovery capabilities.
