Cedars Textile Art Collaborative (TAC) offers Cedars clients fun, inspiring, creative day programs. We are currently looking for a compassionate, skillful full-time Program Instructor in our Garden Program!
In this role you and other TAC instructors will teach program participants how to seed, plant, cultivate and harvest plants, fruits, vegetables and herbs in Cedars community garden. You will have knowledge of growing techniques and will help to deepen participants' general understanding of gardening. If you have experience with plants, enjoy working outdoors, and have a strong desire to help others learn new skills, we encourage you to apply.
The TAC Program is set on 2 dozen acres overlooking San Anselmo. The remote, peaceful property includes a community garden, art barn studio space, upgraded kitchen, weaving studio and more!
This position will require some degree of hands on caregiving (help with personal hygiene, toileting, etc.), to the extent that a participant requires.
The hours for the Garden Instructor position are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The rate of pay is $21.75/hour. Additionally, a bonus of up to $1,000 will be distributed over the course of the first year of employment.
- Experience working with developmentally disabled people is preferred.
- Experience with or willingness to learn to provide direct caregiving when needed.
- Experience leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people.
- Some knowledge of plants and a willingness to learn.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- The ability to teach and provide skills in the program areas offered at TAC.
- Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
- Ability to pass an employment physical including a TB test, and to meet the physical requirements of the job.
- A valid DMV driver's license, a minimum of 3 years of driving experience, and a willingness to drive a passenger van.
- CPR and First Aid certifications or the willingness to acquire both.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ.
- Physical strength - (for raking, digging, moving hay, soil, crops, etc.)
