The Opportunity
The Vice President of Data Center Delivery will lead the strategic planning and execution of Montera’s hyperscale data center delivery program, supporting a national portfolio of Tier 1 market developments in the United States and select markets in Canada, ranging from one to three facilities at 50 MW to 300+ MW IT per site. Reporting directly to the Chief Delivery Officer (CDO), this role will design, implement, and manage a scalable, standardized, and high-performance delivery model that ensures each project is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to world-class standards of quality and reliability. The Vice President will serve as the key interface between executive leadership, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations, ensuring seamless delivery from site due diligence through customer turnover. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on leadership to support a total planned program of 1.5–2.5 GW IT capacity across multiple hyperscale campuses.
Strategic Delivery Leadership
- Partner with the CDO to develop and scale a repeatable delivery framework optimized for hyperscale single-tenant customers focused on AI, cloud, and enterprise workloads.
- Translate corporate growth objectives into executable delivery strategies balancing cost, schedule, quality, and risk.
- Support site selection and due diligence, ensuring site constructability, permitting feasibility, and alignment with program standards.
Design Integration & Technical Validation
- Collaborate with Design team to establish standardized reference designs, delivery processes, and performance KPIs across the portfolio to drive consistency and speed-to-market.
- Participate in data center design to validate design completeness, budget alignment, and constructability.
Preconstruction & Procurement Oversight
- Lead development of project-specific budgets and schedules in collaboration with cost and scheduling teams.
- Responsible to identify, evaluate, and recommend selection to leadership team of qualified General Contractors and associated in market MEP subcontractors, and manage negotiation of key project financial, schedule, and staffing requirements.
- Oversee preconstruction processes, including baseline schedule development, Major Capital Equipment (MCE) procurement, project buyout, and contracting to achieve shovel readiness.
Construction Execution & Team Leadership
- Hire, lead, and manage on-site construction management teams (mix of full-time employees and consultants) along with Commissioning/QAQC manager and associated commissioning agents.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of construction and commissioning professionals, fostering a culture of performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Define and oversee GC monthly reporting, schedule progress reviews, and bi-monthly performance updates.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting with cost and finance teams.
Quality, Commissioning & Safety Programs
- Develop and oversee comprehensive QA/QC and Commissioning programs in collaboration with internal teams.
- Collaborate with EH&S organizational leader to develop a world class construction focused EH&S program that mitigates risks associated with high-energy and high-risk activities and fosters a culture of safety across all project stakeholders.
- Manage team overseeing the commissioning and turnover processes, ensuring quality, operational readiness, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive final project close-out, ensuring completion of financial reconciliation and lessons learned implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or related field (Masters preferred).
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in data center delivery or mission-critical infrastructure construction.
- Proven success delivering hyperscale or multi-building data center campuses (50-100 MW+ IT capacity).
- Experience developing scalable programmatic delivery models across multiple markets.
- Strong understanding of MEP design, modular construction, MCE procurement, QAQC programs, and commissioning methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, and cost management systems.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Physical Demands:
- Travel Requirements: This role requires frequent travel, approximately 30% of the time, to various locations for meetings, conferences, and site visits. Travel may include domestic and international destinations.
- Remote Work: When not traveling, the role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. The candidate must have a reliable internet connection and suitable workspace for remote work.
- General Physical Activity: The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and using a computer and other office equipment.

- Office Visits: Periodic visits to the company's main office, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, or other designated locations may be required for team meetings, training sessions, and other in-person activities.
