The Role
As Reach's Tax Accountant, you will be a hands-on contributor essential for ensuring the broader tax team meets its international compliance obligations. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of international VAT, GST, and sales tax returns, ensuring payments are made by their respective statutory deadlines. This is a high-impact role that offers the opportunity to develop specialized international tax skills within the dynamic ecommerce and fintech industries.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, sales tax) across multiple jurisdictions, or coordinate with external tax advisors.
- Review tax data for anomalies and discrepancies; escalate and resolve issues with Data, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Research tax legislation changes, evaluate implications for the business, and provide recommendations on compliance requirements.
- Participate in strategic tax projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to process improvements, including exploring ways to streamline tasks using automation tools.
- Support internal teams with tax-related inquiries.
You Bring
- Strong academic background and a university degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, well-organized, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
Nice To Have
- 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or tax accounting.
- Experience supporting or conducting tax audits (Big 4 or mid-tier firm background is an asset).
- Professional tax or accounting qualification, or qualification in progress.
- Broad experience with US sales tax and understanding of VAT/GST.
- Experience working with third-party tax preparers and advisers.
- Familiarity with automation tools or AI-assisted workflows for process improvement.
- Knowledge of Jira/Confluence/Google Workspace, and an advanced Excel user.
- An agile, curious mindset, with an enjoyment for the speed of a fast-paced startup environment.
