You will build the quality assurance practice for a patient-facing mobile application used in clinical trials for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), a rare bleeding disorder affecting 1 in 5,000 people worldwide.
Salary & Location
$95,000 – $115,000, Full-time, Remote (must be eligible to work in US), 100% healthcare
About the Role
You'll design and implement automated testing infrastructure from the ground up for a Flutter-based electronic patient-reported outcome system. This is a foundational role. You won't inherit legacy systems or technical debt—you'll establish testing practices, automation frameworks, and quality standards that will shape how we build software.
What You'll Do
- Design and build automated test suites for mobile apps (Flutter), web apps, and backend API endpoints
- Create testing specifications and documentation that support FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance
- Develop testing strategies for offline-first applications with complex sync logic
- Establish continuous integration testing as part of our CI/CD pipeline
- Define and document QA processes, standards, and reporting, including performance testing, test coverage and quality metrics
- Ensure the ability to trace tests to requirements via structured test plans.
- Collaborate closely with development on test planning and defect resolution
What We Value
- Eagerness to break things and a systematic approach to quality assurance
- Demonstrated ability to build or significantly improve a QA practice (not just execute existing test plans)
- Deep experience with automated testing frameworks and writing automated test scripts, including practical experience with tools like Appium, WebDriver, and Playwright
- Comfort working across platforms (iOS, Android, web, cloud infrastructure), including experience with testing on iOS and Android devices and device farms (e.g., BrowserStack, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab)
- Good technical writing skills, especially for writing test plans, defect reports, and reproducible steps
About the Environment
Anspar Foundation is assembling a technology team for Cure HHT (curehht.org), the leading international patient advocacy organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), the second most common inherited bleeding disorder worldwide. Our first project is a nosebleed diary application that will transform how patients track and manage their symptoms. This application will serve multiple stakeholders - from patients seeking better disease management tools, to researchers collecting longitudinal data, to pharmaceutical companies developing new therapies. Future projects will directly improve the patient experience and expand capabilities for collaboration with research and treatment partners, accelerating the search for treatments and ultimately a cure. Join us in creating technology that directly improves the lives of the 1 in 5,000 people affected by HHT globally, while contributing to vital research that will advance treatment options for this underserved community.
You'll work alongside a small, senior team, including the CEO, the Project Manager and the Principal Engineer. Your title will reflect your experience and responsibilities.
Bonus Experience
- Release & deployment automation for releasing web and mobile (iOS, Android) updates to production
- Secure infrastructure management of the core cloud infrastructure and secrets management
- System observability & reliability monitoring, alerting, and logging
- Advanced Flutter/Dart testing experience, including integration_test, golden tests, and widget tests
- Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, aerospace, financial services, or Fortune 500 environments with rigorous quality requirements)
- Familiarity with healthcare data privacy (HIPAA, GDPR) or FDA software requirements
We'll provide training on specific regulatory frameworks. What matters most is your ability to think systematically about quality and your track record building testing infrastructure.
- Strong automation skills with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Appium, Playwright, WebDriver, Flutter’s integration_test).
- Hands-on experience testing across platforms, including iOS, Android, and web applications, with the ability to automate mobile testing (Flutter experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in API testing, including validating REST endpoints, schemas, and creating automated regression suites.
- Ability to design and maintain structured QA assets, such as test plans, requirement-traceable test cases, and clear, reproducible defect reports.
- Comfort working within CI/CD pipelines and device farms (e.g., BrowserStack, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab), with eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
- Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
