We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to support our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in exploring the inner workings of a finance department, gaining exposure to executive-level operations, and learning how strategic financial decisions are made within a global organization.
Internships at Shift Markets are designed to provide students with hands-on training, similar to a university lab course, which enriches the educational experience. The goal is to add professional context to the student’s specialized academic program for the upcoming academic year. A major in Finance (or a related major, such as Accounting), is best suited for tying this internship to an academic program.
With mentorship and guidance from our Finance team, the intern will:
- Learn how to collect, organize, and analyze financial and operational data in support of corporate development initiatives, gaining exposure to areas such as transaction management and due diligence processes.
- Observe and participate in reviews of internal processes to understand how operational efficiency is assessed and how cost comparisons are made between internal and external service providers.
- Gain insight into the development of financial policies, procedures, and supporting documentation, under the supervision of senior finance leaders.
- Learn how to assist with audit preparation, including compiling supporting materials and understanding communications with external auditors.
- Research vendors and gain experience in cost benchmarking to support pricing and negotiation strategies.
- Explore how internal controls and compliance documentation are tracked and maintained.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, learning how financial models and forecasts are developed.
- Gain exposure to treasury operations, such as tracking fund transfers and reviewing cash flow reports.
- Observe the creation and refinement of departmental goals and finance metrics dashboards.
- Attend cross-functional meetings and learn how to capture key financial insights and action items.
- Participate in special projects related to cybersecurity awareness and fraud prevention in financial workflows.
This is an unpaid internship. This internship requires 15-20 hours per week, and is remote. Internships with Shift are conducted without entitlement to a paid job at the conclusion of the internship.
