The Medical Records Specialist, in coordination with Risk Adjustment and Quality Departments, will retrieve electronic medical records from provider systems, copy service systems, and create and generate letter requests to providers. All medical record retrieval efforts will be in support of Commercial, Medicare Advantage, Federal Employee Program or other Quality and Risk Adjustment lines of business initiatives and work efforts. As part of large retrieval projects, may conduct outbound calls to providers to help remove roadblocks for receipt of medical records. Will support other tasks such as data entry, research with multiple EMRs as needed for the overall medical record retrieval initiative, train contingent workers during peak seasons, and support quality audits reviews of contingent workers.
What you’ll do:
- Retrieve Medical Records from multiple provider EHR systems.
- Generate Letter Requests on behalf of Premera Risk and Quality Departments.
- Telephone Outreach to providers for status and to help remove retrieval barriers.
- Data Entry.
- System research as needed (web or internal source systems).
- Ability to work with strict deadlines.
- Assist with maintaining Job Aides for each provider system and copy service.
- Train all new Contingent workers during peak seasons
- Other Duties as assigned by Team Lead, Manager, or Director
What you’ll bring:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Two (2) years’ relevant experience (Required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Confidentiality Laws (Required)
- High Speed Cable, DSL or Fiberoptic Internet, no less than 20 mbps – Satellite and Wireless connections will not work with our equipment. (Required)
- Strongly prefer medical record retrieval experience in EHR systems
- Strongly prefer knowledge of HEDIS
- Strongly prefer EMR experience (Epic super user)

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Salary Range: $37,400.00 - $56,100.00
National Plus Salary Range: $43,200.00 - $64,100.00
*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
