Role Overview:
The Ancillary Services Coordinator is charged with the verification and pre-authorization activities related to testing and special services provided by LifeStance Health and associated clinical practices. The coordinator will work collaboratively with patients and office team members to ensure that all charges and benefits are appropriate for necessary treatment. The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong desire to work individually while meeting the needs of a national organization. An important key requirement is the self-accountability to drive success in a virtual team environment. This position is a remote role with the ability to sit within any US locality where LifeStance is represented.
Compensation: $19.40 - $21.00 Hourly
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient medical insurance benefits through phone and online access of private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid to obtain benefit information
- Determine insurance benefit compatibility with LifeStance procedures/visits including, but not limited to testing and special services
- Obtain pre-certification or authorization for procedures and enter into billing system software
- Work closely with providers and operations team to provide the patient with benefit information to facilitate testing or other special services
- Complete a cost estimate with the benefit information. Upload information in medical record and send to the patient for review
- Complete data entry and/or appropriate forms to document patient's benefits coverage
- Alert the Office staff about uninsured, underinsured, and any potential billing issues so the patient can be notified
- Provide accurate, detailed insurance benefits to the requester and detail in the billing system
- Keep accurate documentation of the verification process in the patient electronic chart and any other reporting resources
- Be a resource to other teams regarding the patient benefits
- Support leadership with daily, weekly monthly reporting needs as required
Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 2+ years of medical facility or medical office billing experience
- Professional experience and understanding of insurance products and coverage types
- Experience with automated billing systems preferred
- Experience with training in business office activities is preferred
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
- Must have experience working with insurance companies, have knowledge of different types of coverage and polices
