Position Summary:
The Verifications Specialist is responsible for conducting and processing background checks, employment verifications, and other pre-employment screening services. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the information gathered, adhering to company policies and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct employment, education, and reference verifications using phone, email, and online platforms.
- Review and validate documentation submitted by applicants or third parties.
- Accurately enter and update information in the database and verification systems.
- Communicate professionally with applicants, employers, and educational institutions.
- Ensure timely completion of all verification tasks according to client or company timelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues to appropriate team members or supervisors.
- Stay updated on legal requirements and industry best practices for background checks and verifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in customer service, administrative work, or background screening is a plus.
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated through phone presence and email quality ability to identify and quickly escalate issues.
- Must show initiative and be reliable to work with some independence once trained.
- Detail oriented, organized and the ability to problem solve.
Training Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CST
Work Schedule (Post Training): Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm CST
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Walk (occasionally), sit- up to 8hrs. a day, stand (occasionally), use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, able to lift-up to 15lbs.(occasionally).
