Operations Safety Officer - REMOTE
Salary Range: Starting at $103,000 based on experience
Our Operations Safety Officers (OSO) report to the Director of Safety and work collaboratively with all regional leadership teams. The OSOs support the regional leaders in promoting a positive and non-punitive safety reporting culture to enhance a safe working environment throughout the organization. This is a corporate remote position that includes travel for in-person meetings, site visits, and training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Develop, maintain, and promote the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Assist in the facilitation of Systems Risk Management (SRM) process.
- Oversee and track the Internal Evaluation Program (IEP).
- Conduct site visits and perform safety audits.
- Manage incident and hazard reporting.
- Conduct initial and recurrent Crew Resource Management (CRM) training.
- Develop, update, and maintain safety promotional training presentations and safety publications.
- Conduct root cause analysis investigations and provide necessary recommendations on reports or allegations received from the various company reporting systems as assigned.
- Recruit, train, and communicate regularly with assigned Site Safety Officers (SSO) and Program Safety Officers (PSO).
- Monitor audit findings and escalate to Corrective Action plans, as required.
- Continually monitor operational activities to assist in identifying potential hazards, risks, and negative exposure within the operation.
- Assist with analysis of operational activities and provide monthly safety trend overview reports.
- Participate in base, regional, and corporate level safety meetings and conference calls as required.
- Support operational leadership teams as a safety advisor.
- Must be willing to travel 30% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with and/or knowledgeable of the following systems:
- SMS, IEP, ASAP, FOQA, and LOSA safety initiative programs, OSHA general industry standards, and Just Culture.
- Additional experience:
- Prior experience as an organizational safety representative or equivalent (preferred).
- 5 years’ experience as an Air Ambulance Pilot, Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Aviation Maintenance Technician, Flight Coordinator, or Aviation Dispatcher (preferred).
- Auditing experience (preferred)
- Education
- Associate degree, Bachelor of Science degree (preferred).
- Skills
- Microsoft Office applications, math and writing skills, ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, public speaking.
