Position Overview
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Pre-Authorization Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. This individual will be responsible for handling insurance pre-certifications for surgical procedures, MRI scans, and injections, as well as managing patient payment arrangements. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex insurance procedures in a fast-paced environment. Position can be remote for individuals with prior experience.
Key Responsibilities:
· Pre-Certification/Pre-Authorization: Contact insurance companies to obtain pre-certification for surgical procedures, MRIs, CT scans, and injections as required by the insurance plan.
· Insurance Benefits & Payment Arrangements: Obtain insurance benefit information, calculate patient responsibilities for surgical procedures and scans, and communicate these costs to patients. Assist patients with payment arrangements as necessary.
· Surgical Chart Preparation: Assemble and deliver ASC surgical charts to the front desk prior to scheduled procedures.
· Use of Insurance Carrier Tools: Leverage insurance tools to estimate patient out-of-pocket costs and determine insurance contractual discounts.
· Communication: Establish clear communication with patients regarding their insurance benefits, out-of-pocket costs, and payment plans. Provide pre-payment information to front desk staff and ensure accurate and timely updates to patient accounts.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is fast paced, requiring high mental acuity and the ability to manage potential stress levels. There may also be occasional travel to other office locations or special events.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
· Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
· Experience: 1+ year of experience in a business office or healthcare setting (preferred).
· Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance policies, and payment procedures.
· Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask and thrive under pressure.
· Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds (Occasionally).
