Job Purpose:
The Charge Assurance Specialist coordinates with Charge Assurance Auditor to identify revenue management opportunities, conducts charge reconciliation to ensure optimal charge capture, and reviews and monitors specific information regarding hospital services, reimbursement, and revenue management. This position requires critical thinking and judgment and must demonstrate the ability to appropriately use standard criteria established by regulatory guidelines and hospital policy for charge capture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works with Charge Assurance Auditor to resolve frequently identified charge capture issues that result in claim errors.
- Proactively monitors and resolves charge related claim edit work queues and dashboards.
- Conducts research and analyzes claim edit errors, and work with the Client’s Revenue Integrity departments to resolve such errors.
- Review patient accounts to ensure charge accuracy based on knowledge of regulatory guidelines and according to hospital policy.
- Prepare appeals letters for Charge Assurance Auditor.
- Provide patient log identifying patient accounts reviewed including detailed charge discrepancies and resolution by charge code.
- This position may be up to 32 hours rather than 40 hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- 1-3 years of charge capture experience (preferred).
- 1-3 years of patient accounting systems experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with medical records review, claims processing, and the overall revenue cycle.
- Fundamental knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
- Able to quickly learn new, proprietary-based software applications.
- Professionalism in both appearance and approach.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
Note: Savista is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $20.50 to $28.50. However, specific compensation for the role will vary within the above range based on many factors including but not limited to geographic location, candidate experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
