We’re looking for a skilled Clinical Data Abstractor to contribute to vital healthcare initiatives by reviewing and abstracting clinical data for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Adult Cardiac Database. In this role, you’ll ensure data integrity and compliance while supporting patient care and outcomes improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately abstract data from patient medical records into the STS Adult Cardiac Database, adhering to established guidelines.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with clinical teams and data managers to ensure data quality and resolve discrepancies.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay current with updates to the STS Database specifications.
- Generate and review reports to verify data accuracy and completeness.
- Contribute to process improvements for data collection and submission workflows.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in clinical data abstraction, preferably for cardiac or thoracic databases.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, surgical procedures, and clinical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare data systems.
- Certification or relevant credentials in healthcare or clinical data (e.g., RN, RHIA, CCS) are a plus.
