Registered Nurse (RN) - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Caregivers in Mercy Hospital’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) work under the medical direction of the General Anesthesiology department to ensure that post-operative patients receive world-class care and meet PACU discharge. This is a tight-knit group of caregivers whose top priority is patient care and helping each other. Caregivers in the PACU also work in the Same Day Surgery Unit, which handles less complicated surgeries that require an overnight hospital stay. A high percentage of these patients have their surgery and go home the same day. The RN in this role will primarily be responsible for Phase Irecovery but will also learn Preop and Phase II recovery.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
