Job Highlights:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a member of the hospital leadership team providing strategic direction on patient care and nursing related issues. Serves as a member of the Saint Louis University School of Nursing Advisory Board. Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment in a matrix organization and promotes teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships.
- Guides evidence-based practice and research activities in support of the academic mission. Promotes academic partnership with Saint Louis University which may include serving in an adjunct faculty role.
- Develops a Nursing Center of Excellence within the academic platform to include nursing residency program, Magnet Recognition Program, nursing certification requirements and evidence-based practice.
- Oversees human resource management for the assigned area creating a culture of employee engagement. Ensures HR policies are administered consistently across function. Promotes team building and collaboration. Organizes department through appropriate structure and delegation of functions. Identifies succession planning needs within the team.
- Displays and encourages ethical behavior in business ethics, legal compliance, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, vendor relationships and the reporting of questionable activities. Serves as a role model and mentor to nursing leaders.
- Identifies common opportunities for standardizing processes to achieve a consistent experience for all served. Develops strategies to ensure premier patient satisfaction. Leads development of nursing practice standards to facilitate effective utilization of the electronic health record.
- Collaborates within dyad partnership to implement and provide oversight for key quality and safety metrics of patient care. Participates in ongoing continuous quality improvement education and training. Evaluates patient services processes across the organization for quality, cost effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance, and recommends measures to streamline operations and reduce duplication. Partners across the organization to support smooth transition of care for patients across care settings to ensure optimal level of care to address patient needs.
- Oversees nursing practice, clinical outcomes, and process improvement initiatives to achieve value-based outcome metrics. Assumes fiscal responsibility through budgetary planning and implementation. Develops and manages the operating and capital budgets for patient services operations, analyzes variances, develops plans and takes appropriate actions for productivity and performance improvements.
- Maintains knowledge and achieves compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, licensure, accreditation requirements, record procedures and internal controls. Regularly informs and updates staff on organizational and industry issues.
- Develops and enhances relationships with community, other publics, organizations, and groups that expand the effectiveness of the mission. Collaborates with supporting functions of operations, provider services, finance, planning, quality, and human resources to achieve successful outcomes for the hospitals, service lines, network, and system.
- Recruits, engages, develops, leads, and manages assigned staff.
- Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's scope of service.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Master's degree in nursing or related field
- Doctorate in Nursing preferred (DNP or PhD).
EXPERIENCE
- Ten years' nursing experience, with five years leading complex medical centers
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Job Summary:
This is NOT a remote opportunity. This position will require relocation to the St. Louis metro area upon acceptance of the role.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Develops short-term and long-term patient services and nursing goals/plans ensuring alignment with broader organization priorities for Saint Louis University and St. Mary’s Ministries across our academic integrated platform. Leads and directs nursing strategic priorities, patient care practices/standards, and clinical outcomes. Promotes patient, employee, and physician satisfaction. Implements evidence-based nursing practice standards and guidelines across the academic platform in alignment with the standards of care to ensure the safe delivery of quality patient care.
