POSITION SUMMARY:
Food Gallery Catering is a boutique catering company, catering events large and small throughout the Twin Cities. We are looking for passionate, fun, positive, and hard working service leads (captains) to join our team. The captain position is a leadership role at Food Gallery. Catering is a fast paced environment - flexibility, great problem solving skills, a level head, and ... the ability to work gracefully under pressure are a must. In this position you’ll be responsible for leading a service team through the successful execution of catered events. This includes managing servers, following a timeline, and working as the liaison between Food Gallery’s internal teams, the venue, and the client/planner. Mostly we are looking for candidates who have a natural hospitality reflex - people who feel good when they’re making others feel good. As caterers we are a part of some of the biggest and most celebratory days in people’s lives - the captains job is not just to execute the logistics of the event, but to do so in a way that keeps a stellar guest experience as the highest priority.
Off-premise catering is a physical job and includes doing equipment pulls, loading and unloading trucks using a hydraulic lift, setting up and tearing down events, executing meal service, and leading a team of servers, among other tasks. Captains are the first in and last out on the service side of events which may mean shifts from as few as 5-6 hours up to 10-12 hours. Candidates must be able to lift 25+ lbs and must be comfortable driving a 16 ft box truck (similar to those a person can rent for moving). We train our captains in our systems and provide ongoing support. We are looking specifically for weekend availability and require 4 weekend shifts per month. Weekday shifts are also available but less frequent than Thursday-Sunday shifts which is where our biggest staffing needs lie.
We prioritize a healthy work/life balance for our employees, and to that end we are closed on major holidays so that our staff have the opportunity to celebrate. Snacks are provided for staff on all shifts and more substantial meals are provided on the majority of shifts. Captains pay starts at $25/hour plus tips and for full time employees (maintaining an average of 30+ hours per week) we offer health benefits.
Food Gallery is a growing company. Check us out on social media @foodgallerycateringmn to see some of the awesome work we’re doing around the Twin Cities. We’d love to have you on our team!
