Essential Job Functions • Pick up mail and parcels from the post Office. • Open, sort, and distribute mail. Maintain records of postage charges. • Maintain a pickup and delivery schedule for mail to outside County departments. • Prepare mail and parcels for mailing. • Calibrate and operate scales to determine proper amount of postage. • Determine rate of postage for different mail, including first, second, third, and fourth class. • Determine most efficient and economical method to send mail. • Utilize postage charge and calibrated map to determine proper amount of postage for packages. • Operate postage meters, scales, duplicating machines, and other Office equipment. • Maintain records concerning monies received, postal charges, amount of insured and certified mail. • Drives County vehicles. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
