Rails is looking to hire an Associate Merchandiser. As the Associate Merchant at Rails, you will help to support the merchandising function in building product strategies that contribute to short and long term category and channel growth. You will support the Senior Director of Merchandising in developing, executing and communicating the assortment architecture that caters to the Rails customer ... base. This role requires a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial individual who thrives in a cross functional and fast-paced environment. This role will possess strong leadership skills and be responsible for driving cross functional communication and motivate the teams to be product and customer focused. This role will eventually own a category of the business.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for recognizing current trends and supports the Sr Director of Merchandising in executing a merchandise assortment plan that supports the growth of Wholesale, DTC E-commerce and retail channels while protecting brand position and brand DNA
• Maintenance of line plan and channel assortments with timely updates of brand product assortment portfolio working closely with Design, PD, and production
• Understanding product trends and can demonstrate the ability to digest product insight into short term and long term assortment strategies
• Assist with the creation of seasonal and chase line plans and ensure streamlined information across Nuorder and Apparel Magic style creation
• Conduct competitive research on product offerings, fabrications, pricing and trends
• Facilitate strong working relationship between design, PD, production, planning, allocations and marketing teams to ensure maximal 360 launch of product strategies and collection materializes in market to end consumer
• Maintain department records and assist with general administration, hindsight prep, and meeting preparation including but limited to assortment line, costing, and chase strategies
• Monthly receipt reconciliation, track and monitor inventory, receipt flow and outstanding orders, partnering closely with production and supply chain to ensure on time delivery
• Manage and maintain various calendars, tools and reporting
• Partner with planning to determine seasonal buys and manage flow of inventory
• Create and prep weekly and seasonal product sales reporting/hindsights
• Assist and maintain clear attribution during sku life cycle
Qualifications
• College degree in Fashion Management, Merchandising, or related field
• 1-2 years of progressive experience as assistant/associate within merchandising and buying
• Contemporary women's and/or men’s experience preferred
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to identify trends in the contemporary landscape
• Solid working knowledge of MS Offices
• Ability to thrive in cross functional and team environments
• Strong communication skills
• Exceptionally resourceful, detail-oriented and highly organized
• A can-do attitude, accountable for results and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues
