Duties
• Duties are listed at full performance grade level.
• Performs a full range of standard and non-standard assignments, resolving non-recurring problems.
• Work requires comprehensive knowledge of rules, regulations, and other guidelines relating to completing assignments in the program area assigned.
• Reads and keeps apprised of organizational and Agency-wide directives and procedures in order to be aware of changes and new requirements affecting the work of the organization.
• Reviews outgoing correspondence for proper spelling, grammar, format, and arrangement of material.
• Computes travel vouchers, submits documents for signature, approval, and payment, and schedules travel accommodations.
• Reviews personal property documents involving acquisitions, transfer or disposal of items that are required to be of record.
• Determines supplies needed for the office staff.
• Prepares the necessary requisition/procurement requests, and receives and distributes supplies and special order items.
• Greets visitors and answers the telephone.
Requirements
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-05 : You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following :
• Greet visitors and respond to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate;
• Maintain written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; and/or
• Use word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.

Successful completion a bachelor's degree or four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
- OR-
Combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
For the GS-06 : You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following :
• Provide support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions;
• Reconcile purchases and maintain files in accordance with Federal regulations and agency directives;
• Process incoming and outgoing mail;
• Establish and maintain the unit's files, accountable property inventories, records, etc. (hardcopy and/or electronic format); and/or
• Use automated software to produce reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form.

One full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business Administration).
-OR-
Combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
