Position Description
The Field Service Technician - Palletizer/Depalletize/Stretch Wrapper (Remote) is responsible for servicing the beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment as required. The Field Service Technician - Palletizer/Depalletize/Stretch Wrapper (Remote) will hold specialized expertise knowledge in one of the six equipment centers; De-palletizer, Palletizer and Stretch Wrapper; Filler, Capper on a PET bottle line; Filler, Seamer on a Can line; Blow Molder; Packer and/or Cartoner; Labeler and/or Sleevers. The Field Service Technician - Palletizer/Depalletize/Stretch Wrapper (Remote) will require a strong technician skills base knowledge which should include; hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, conveyor systems and PLC usage.
Essential Functions:
• Maintenance, testing and upgrading of all production equipment. Installation and testing of new food manufacturing, packaging, and processing equipment. Interface with machine tools and special equipment or test modules, troubleshoot existing equipment for electrical or electronics failures and change or modify machines to improve or update.
• Participate in and direct troubleshooting activities in the event of equipment failure including participation in failure analysis, problem solving and prevention.
• Work with production team to make rapid, educated decisions regarding the issue at hand and troubleshoot systems, resolve issues by providing investigation, analysis, test, and follow-up where appropriate.
• Preventative maintenance and repair when required in addition to planned mechanical maintenance duties.
• Participate in a continuous improvement culture while following safe workplace practices.
• Develop positive and respectful interactions with managers, supervisors, maintenance technicians, and machine operators.
• Able to create a maintenance program for the equipment type expert on.
• Perform other duties as required by the Service Director.
• Seek to ensure reliability of plant and equipment operation while optimizing maintenance and operation costs and satisfying all safety, environmental etc. regulations in the process.
• Participate in the coordination of the installation of new equipment as required.
• Ensures that all designs and activities comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards, maintains company drawings and technical records, and provides clear and concise analysis and reporting.
• Provides technical support for the operation, maintenance for improvement of processing equipment and production lines
• Works in a team environment to support company objectives, initiatives, and policies.
• Drives production line performance improvements using Controls Automation and Continuous Improvement knowledge and skills.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
• Five (5) plus years’ experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is preferred
• Electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair skills are preferred.
Position-Specific Skills:
• Expert in a Specific Equipment type listed in the summary.
• Must be able to use RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, or RS Logix 5 software for machine troubleshooting.
• Must be able to go online with Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC500, or PLC5 using either Ethernet I/P, DH , or RS232. Must be able to download PLC program if necessary.
• Must be able to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Must be able to use a multimeter and work in control panels with up to 480VAC.
• Understands symbols on P&ID’s and tag references on line layout drawing.
• Should be able to replace and configure AB Powerflex 40, 400, and 525 VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and Yaskawa V1000 and P1000 VFDs.
Position-Specific Travel Requirements:
• This is a remote, home-based position with an understanding that the successful candidate must live within close proximity of a major international airport.
• Ability to travel up to 80% within North America.
Physical Requirements:
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Use hands to handle, touch and manipulate items.
• Occasionally stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, twist and walk.
• Have vision abilities to include proximate vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus as well as be able to effectively see and process computer-generated images on a screen or hand-held device.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds as necessary.
