POSITION SUMMARY
The Catering Sales and Event manager is responsible for the proactive sales and solicitation of social events. They will prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases of all property events. The Catering Sale and Event Manager is responsible for greeting the on-site contact for events and ensures our operations team is smoothly running the event. The Catering Sales and Event Manager is responsible for the operations of the Banquet department and works social events including those that take place on weekends. They ensure that all property events have a seamless turnover from sales to service and back to sales. They recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
A bonus plan is offered based on both proactive social sales and upselling performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate all aspects of catering events
- Proactively solicit social business in the market.
- Meet with clients to discuss their event needs and provide recommendations and create customized menus based on client preferences and dietary restrictions
- Coordinate with kitchen and banquet staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation, as well as setup and breakdown of event spaces, including tables, chairs, and decorations
- Manage event timelines to ensure smooth execution of all activities
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to secure necessary equipment and supplies
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate records of event details, including attendance, expenses, and customer feedback
Skills:
- Strong sales and customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and meet their needs
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable contracts with vendors and suppliers
- Proven account management experience to build long-term relationships with clients
- Ability to analyze market trends and competitor offerings to develop competitive pricing strategies
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in menu planning, event setup, and record keeping
- Proficient in using computer software for menu design, event planning, and record keeping
