If that’s you, ACHS is hiring a Facility & Production Manager to lead our on-site production and fulfillment operations.
At the ACHS, we’re a small, mission-driven team producing and shipping certified organic essential oils, botanicals, and academic lab kits to students and customers across the U.S. and globally. We operate within a GMP-compliant facility, with a strong focus on quality assurance, traceability, and proper handling of natural products.
In this role, you’ll oversee daily order fulfillment, hands-on production, team leadership, inventory storage, and facility operations—ensuring processes meet GMP standards while supporting a high-quality student and customer experience. You’ll also support the end-to-end shipping process for both ACHS student lab kits and retail orders through our Apothecary Shoppe College Store, ensuring accurate kitting, proper packaging, and timely delivery aligned with academic schedules and customer expectations.
Our Portland facility is Oregon Tilth Certified Organic and GMP-compliant; you’ll be the operational leader responsible for upholding these standards every day.

What You’ll OwnDaily Operations & Fulfillment
- Ensure accurate, on-time daily fulfillment of student lab kits, retail orders, and outgoing shipments.
- Hands-on production when needed: measuring and bottling essential oils, weighing and packaging dried herbs, preparing blends and kit components.
- Process student and retail orders quickly and accurately; respond to fulfillment requests and customer inquiries with timely, solutions-oriented communication.
- Coordinating the daily schedule for production and shipping.
- Verify materials, supplies, and natural product inventory are prepped and ready for production in partnership with the Procurement & Inventory Director.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for facility vendors: maintenance, recycling, supplies, and service providers.
- Respond to production and fulfillment requests and customer emails with timely solutions or updates.
- Manage incoming facility mail and route it efficiently.
- Manage incoming returns, assess condition, and coordinate credits and restocking.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate the production team to maintain accuracy, speed, and quality.
- Set clear expectations, support training, and keep the team focused, energized, and on schedule.
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce waste, improve efficiency, and reinforce ACHS’s sustainability values — then follow through.
Inventory, Quality & Compliance
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking proactively with the Procurement & Inventory Director.
- Partner with the QA Manager and GMP and Quality Assurance Coordinator to uphold quality standards, labeling accuracy, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized facility that reflects our standards and values.

- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or quality assurance in a production setting.
- 3+ years of experience in production, fulfillment, or operations management.
- Proven experience leading a team and managing daily fulfillment workflows.
- A proactive, high-energy leadership style: you anticipate what’s needed and move on it.
- Genuine enthusiasm for natural health, organic products, and the ACHS mission — this is not just a logistics job to you.
- Take initiative: you spot what needs doing and do it, rather than waiting to be directed.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to hold multiple moving pieces without dropping any.
- Have a sharp eye for detail and solid math skills (conversions of weights, volumes, and measurements).
- Comfortable with and excited by technology: Able to use systems with ease, including inventory management systems, including NetSuite, Shopify, Google Suite, Canva, and AI tools.
- Clear, professional, positive communicator with both on-site and remote teams.
- Experience with inventory management or production tracking systems.
- Experience with essential oils, dried herbs, or natural/organic products; formal studies such as a Certificate in Natural Products Manufacturing, Certificate in Aromatherapy or a Certificate in Herbal Studies, a plus.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Work is generally performed indoors in a storage, sorting, and fulfillment area, and in a lab that requires the use of PPE (lab coat, hair covering, gloves, and mask; artificial nails, eyelashes, and jewelry is not permitted during production). Frequent exposure to fragrant herbs and oils.

- Standing and walking for up to 8 hours per day, either at a workstation or while moving throughout the space.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials.
- Continuous pushing or pulling of 5–40 lbs; up to 65+ lbs may be required sporadically.
- Stooping, bending at the knees and waist, kneeling, reaching, and occasional climbing of a ladder to retrieve or store materials.
- Repetitive twisting, bending, and pulling motions are involved in packing, taping, and moving boxes and orders, and all types of inventory.
- May also require manual closing of bags or containers by hand.
