What You'll Do
Scheduling & Patient Access
- Schedule imaging and diagnostic procedures while ensuring complete and accurate patient registration.
- Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Secure complete and authenticated physician orders prior to scheduled procedures.
- Coordinate scheduling to align with physician appointments, follow-up visits, or surgical procedures when applicable.
Patient & Provider Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for referring physician offices and high-volume practices.
- Communicate appointment details, updates, and scheduling confirmations to referring offices and patients.
- Assist referring offices with proper protocols for ordering imaging procedures.
- Coordinate with technologists or radiologists for urgent or STAT scheduling requests.
Insurance & Authorization Coordination
- Collaborate with insurance verification and pre-certification teams to obtain prior authorizations when required.
- Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements and authorization processes for imaging procedures.
- Communicate patient financial responsibility and benefits information as needed.
Collaboration & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians and clinic staff.
- Act as a liaison between patients, clinical teams, and referring providers to support efficient care coordination.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure smooth scheduling and patient access processes.
Quality, Safety & Process Improvement
- Follow departmental and organizational policies related to safety, compliance, attendance, and procedures.
- Demonstrate Novant Health’s safety behaviors and high reliability principles.
- Continuously review workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced patient experience.
- Maintain knowledge of imaging procedures including CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and diagnostic exams.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience: Minimum three years experience in scheduling, patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance and/or pre-certification, or related experience in a medical environment, required.
- Additional Skills (required): Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience and competency in customer relation skills in a professional environment. Ability to organize and prioritize work in a stressful environment. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and is self-directed. Good problem solving skills. Basic medical terminology. Exemplary keyboarding skills and experience in patient registration systems and familiarity with personal computers. Basic knowledge of hospital performed procedures.
