AVL Consultant
Churchfront LLC | Melbourne, Florida
At Churchfront, we believe technology—when paired with timeless truths—can unlock new potential in ministry. We're a national AVL integrator serving churches across the United States, designing and installing clear, reliable, and distraction-free systems that help churches steward technology wisely and maximize their kingdom impact.
We're looking for an AVL Consultant to join our consulting team. This role is for someone who can bridge the gap between technical expertise and real-world ministry application—someone who can help a church leader see what's possible in their space, shape the right solution alongside our design team, and make sure the church team is fully equipped to own it long after the install is complete.
About the Role
The AVL Consultant sits within Churchfront's Consulting department—the team responsible for guiding churches from their very first conversation with us through long-term support after installation. You'll operate on both ends of the project lifecycle: helping shape the right solution during the pre-design phase and then stepping back in at the tail end to ensure a quality commissioning and support experience.
This role reports to the Director of Consulting and collaborates closely with two other departments throughout the engagement. On the front end, you'll work with the Design and Engineering team—translating the church's vision and requirements into a clear brief that gives our engineers what they need to draw and finalize the solution. On the back end, you'll collaborate with the Projects team to bring that solution to life, ensuring the church's experience during commissioning, training, and post-install support reflects the same standard of care we brought to the design.
You won't be producing drawings or doing technician work. Your focus is the client—equipping church leaders with a vision of what's possible in their space and the training they need to make full use of the solution we install.
We don't just hand over a system and walk away. We equip teams to own it. This role is at the center of that mission.
What You'll Be Doing
Client Consulting & Vision-Casting Serve as a trusted advisor to church clients—leading discovery calls, assessing existing systems, and helping church leadership see what's possible in their space. Translate ministry goals into technical direction that gives our Design and Engineering team a clear foundation to work from. You're the bridge between what the church needs and what our team builds.
Collaboration with Design & Engineering Partner with the Design and Engineering department to ensure the solutions we propose align with the church's vision, budget, and operational reality. Provide the context, requirements, and client perspective that shape the design brief—then trust the engineering team to draw it up and finalize it.
Collaboration with Projects Work alongside the Projects team during the commissioning phase to ensure installed systems meet the standard the client was promised. You're not pulling cable—you're ensuring the client experience during system handoff is smooth, thorough, and confidence-building.
Commissioning & Training Lead the client-facing side of system commissioning—walking church teams through their new systems, verifying that the end-user experience matches the original vision, and documenting final system configurations and backup files. Ensure the church's tech director and volunteer team are trained and confident before you leave.
Remote Support & Troubleshooting Lead remote support and coaching calls to help churches diagnose and resolve AVL issues after installation. Guide clients through system operation, signal flow, and common troubleshooting workflows. Escalate field service needs to the Projects team when remote resolution isn't possible.
Training & Course Development Develop online courses, training videos, and written guides that equip church tech teams to operate and maintain their systems with confidence. Collaborate with the marketing team to produce educational content that serves both current clients and Churchfront's broader audience.
Pre-Design Support Support the consulting team during the pre-design phase—gathering client requirements, documenting existing systems, and contributing to program report development that sets the foundation for the Design and Engineering team's work.
What We're Looking For
- Strong working knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems in a house of worship or live event context
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences—pastors, administrators, and volunteer teams
- A natural ability to cast vision—helping church leaders see what's possible, not just what's broken
- Experience with remote troubleshooting and client-facing support
- Comfort leading the client-facing side of system commissioning—training, documentation, and handoff
- Experience creating training content—video tutorials, written guides, course curriculum, or similar
- Familiarity with common AVL platforms and control systems used in church environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently across multiple projects
Ideal Education & Background
- Background in audio engineering, broadcast media, AV integration, or technical ministry leadership
- Theological and ministry training
- Experience as a technical director, AVL lead, or systems engineer at a church or production company
- Familiarity with AVIXA standards and pre-design workflows
- AVIXA CTS certification is a plus
- Experience with content creation tools—screen recording, video editing, LMS platforms
- Teaching, training, or coaching experience in a technical context
You'll Thrive Here If You...
- Act like an owner—you take full responsibility for the client experience from first call to final training
- Lead with humility—you meet church teams where they are, not where you think they should be
- Leave no room for ambiguity—your explanations, documentation, and training materials are clear and actionable
- Think ahead—you anticipate the questions a church team will have six months after install
- Value results over excuses—when a client has a problem, you solve it
- Care about the mission—you understand that every call, every course, and every commissioning visit serves the local church
Compensation
Base salary of $75,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience.
This role requires regular travel—approximately 6–10 days per month—for client site visits, system commissioning, and on-site training across the country.
Why Churchfront
We believe the work we do matters—not because technology is the point, but because it serves something greater. When a church's AVL systems work the way they should, there's nothing standing between the congregation and the message.
If you want to use your technical knowledge and people skills to equip churches across the country—not just with systems, but with the confidence to use them—we'd love to hear from you.
