Our Connected Home Hardware team researches, ideates, designs, develops, and manages consumer technologies to make our customers' interaction with TELUS services faster, seamless, and more reliable. Whether finding new ways to connect consumer devices, advancing product form factors, or improving machine-to-human interactions, our team focuses on improving our customers' lives by making technology simpler and friendlier.
We work closely with our engineers, marketing teams, industrial designers, and manufacturing partners to manage products from conception to launch and retirement. We support Optik TV, internet access hardware, Boost Wi-Fi, SmartHome, and more.
What you’ll do
As a Staff Technical Product Manager - Smart Camera Hardware (L5 Product) in the TELUS Connected Home Hardware Team, you will manage our portfolio of smart cameras, including video doorbells and indoor/outdoor security cameras that support our SmartHome service. You will assess and evaluate TELUS’ current and future camera roadmap. To achieve this, you will manage the end-to-end product lifecycle for your product portfolio, working with ODM/OEM partners to define, develop and launch the products, and managing them post-launch until their end of life. You will define the overall strategy, product roadmap, and technical/feature specifications for our products based on long-term product vision, user needs, technical and market trends, and platform capabilities.
Specifically, you will:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on competitor products, vendor roadmaps, IoT protocols, Wi-Fi protocols, smart home technologies, home security and automation technologies
- Develop product roadmap and the in-home deployment architecture for current and new products
- Conduct market research (technology, consumer, competitor), develop product design (industrial design, packaging, mechanical design, features, useability, and onboarding), and write requirements documentation
- Engage with and get buy-in from several stakeholders and partners, both internally and externally, on your proposed product roadmap
- Create, maintain, present, and get approval for business cases that support your product roadmap from all leadership levels
- Evaluate mechanical design, RF design, CMF (colour, material, finish) as part of the product development process
- Lead all internal and external teams for product launches and ongoing management, including vendors, engineering (RF, mechanical, software, and firmware), systems and ordering, marketing, logistics, and supply chain
- Create, maintain, and share project plans and schedules for new product development with all leadership levels, both internally and externally
- Maintain strategic partnerships with various hardware, silicon, and software vendors
