We are seeking an Office Engineer III - Asset Renewal Office Engineer to join our team. The Office Engineer III (Asset Renewal Office Engineer) reports to the Asset Renewal Program Manager and supports the administrative and construction requirements of multiple concurrent projects under the Terminal Development & Improvement Program (TDIP).
The Asset Renewal Program focuses on replacing end-of-life airport assets, including MEP systems, fire and security systems, vertical and horizontal transportation systems, building enclosures, utilities, baggage systems, and passenger boarding bridges.
Salary Range: $125K/Year-$135K/Year - Dependent on Candidate's Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Manage administrative processes and construction documentation for multiple small projects
- Review and process contractor payment applications, including quantity dispute resolution
- Review and respond to RFIs
- Review submittals for compliance with contract documents
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Coordinate contractor onboarding and project startup activities
- Support project closeout, including O&M manuals, warranties, training requirements, punch lists, and final pay applications
- Coordinate and implement Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs) and Utility Shutdown Requests (USRs)
- Take meeting minutes and distribute to project stakeholders as needed
- Support the Construction Manager and Program Manager with additional duties
- Perform work in an occupied, phased, and operational campus environment
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
- Work modified schedules as construction activities require
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience managing the design and construction of small to medium complexity building, utility, or infrastructure projects, preferably within airport or public-agency environments
- Experience delivering projects valued at $25 million or more
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Experience reviewing payment applications, RFIs, and submittals
- Strong documentation, file organization, and reporting skills
- Ability to work in CAD or Revit is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interface effectively with individuals of varying technical and educational backgrounds
- Ability to work on-site at LAX; this is not a remote position
- Willingness to work adjusted hours, evenings, or weekends as construction activities require
- Ability to work in an active, occupied, and operational airport environment
