Responsibilities
As Internal Communications Specialist, you will support the development and rigorous implementation of internal communications that strengthen Ascension’s associate experience and operational priorities, supporting Ascension’s HR organization and strategies. This role is a primary contributor and writer, responsible for executing communications plans and producing high-quality content.
Responsibilities:
- Execute strategic and measurable internal communications plans for HR strategies, focused on associate engagement.
- Apply strategic thinking, big-picture perspective and creativity with a strong focus on attention to detail, clarity and precision in execution.
- Draft and produce high-quality internal communications content, campaigns, and events materials that support our operational objectives and our internal brand.
- Proactively identify trends, risks, challenges and solutions to process adoption, and support communications teams in addressing them through written messaging and materials.
- Ensure that communications reflect the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension as a healing ministry of the Catholic Church.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires excellent writing and project management skills, as well as critical thinking, ability to take and implement strategic guidance effectively.
- Ideally the candidate will also have a knowledge of the evolving healthcare market, Ascension’s history and current initiatives, and communications practices and standards.
- Must be able to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, remote-first environment.
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences
- Bachelor's Degree - 5 years in an internal communications role, ideally with experience working in a healthcare provider system or similar services organization.
- Journalism, public relations, or communications degree preferred.
- Experience executing communications plans and campaigns.
- Experience supporting executive communications (e.g., drafting talking points, preparing drafts of internal messaging).
- Ability to write, edit and tailor engaging and visually appealing change communications.
- Adept at the rapid development of content in support of organizational communications needs.
- Experience working against clearly outlined KPIs and supporting the reporting of results to multiple teams.
- Strong collaboration skills with other team members.
