Position Title: Business Analyst – New Business Unit Setup (Financial Services)
Location: Midtown, New York (Hybrid – approx. 3 days onsite per week)
Engagement Type: Corp-to-Corp preferred

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the buildout of a new business unit within a global financial institution. This role involves requirements gathering, process documentation, compliance support, and close collaboration with both business operations and technology teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in banking or financial services operations such as trading support, settlements, operations, or compliance. Broker/Dealer experience is not required, though it is considered a plus. Candidates with a technology background or prior IT collaboration experience will be viewed favorably, as there will be crossover work with the IT team.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business, compliance, and IT teams to define and document requirements for the new business unit.
- Lead requirements workshops, process walkthroughs, and gap analysis sessions.
- Develop and maintain business and functional documentation, workflows, and process maps.
- Support compliance and record-retention discussions and document key operational controls.
- Coordinate meetings with stakeholders in the U.S. and Europe (early mornings for Germany/UK collaboration).
- Assist in translating business requirements into system specifications and technology needs.
- Support validation activities and assist with UAT planning where required.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within banking or financial services.
- Experience in operations, settlements, trading support, or compliance.
- Strong requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience working in a Waterfall project environment.
- Proficiency with Windows 11 and standard BA tools (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Broker/Dealer or new business unit setup (preferred, not required).
- Background in technology (e.g., prior developer experience or strong IT collaboration).
- Experience with compliance, record retention, or regulatory projects.
- Familiarity with working across multiple time zones and international teams.
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid schedule with approx. 3 days onsite in Midtown, NY.
- Early morning availability for European stakeholder meetings.
- Flexibility for remote work during documentation-heavy periods.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within the financial services industry.
- Prior experience supporting projects in Broker/Dealer, Trading Operations, Settlements, Wealth Management, or Compliance environments.
- Strong understanding of business processes within financial operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working within structured (Waterfall) environments.
- Proficiency with Windows 11 and standard business analysis tools (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
