About the Job
We’re looking for an HR Operations Specialist to join our team and help keep our people processes running smoothly. In this role, you’ll support a wide range of day-to-day HR activities- from recruiting and onboarding to employee engagement and lifecycle support. You’ll play an important part in creating a positive experience for candidates, new hires, and employees across the organization.
This position is based on-site in our Arlington, VA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring teams, and help drive timely feedback from hiring managers and panelists.
- Manage job postings and candidate activity within our applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Partner across teams to ensure candidates and new hires have an excellent experience throughout their journey with Umbra. You’ll build strong relationships with hiring managers to help set every new team member up for success.
- Oversee core onboarding tasks, including background checks, employment authorization, and completion of required forms and trainings.
- Maintain accurate HR data and personnel records within our HR systems.
- Support company culture by helping coordinate team-building and engagement programs and activities.
- Assist with HR communications, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Contribute to ongoing HR projects and help improve our processes as we grow.
- Support the HR team with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and/or applicant tracking systems.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a proactive, “jump in and help” approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt as needs evolve.
- Strong attention to detail to maintain high standards of accuracy and precision.
- Genuine interest in learning and growing within one or more areas of HR.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Communications.
- Hands on experience with Workable (ATS).
- Familiarity with maintaining information in SharePoint.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Slack, and Google Meet.

This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 DOE
