Modern Construction Services is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive growth across our facilities maintenance and construction services. This is an opportunity to lead client acquisition, manage multi-site relationships, and shape scalable sales strategies for national accounts.
Base Salary: $75,000
Commission: Variable, based on performance, with On-Target Earnings up to $125,000
Consideration for hybrid remote schedule after a settling-in period.
In this role, you’ll oversee the full sales cycle—from lead generation to onboarding—while collaborating with estimating, operations, and account management teams to deliver tailored solutions. You’ll also lead marketing initiatives, represent us at trade shows, and optimize CRM to streamline service delivery.
We’re looking for someone with strong knowledge of facilities maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, janitorial, electrical), a sharp understanding of industry segmentation (retail, healthcare, logistics), and a passion for building lasting client partnerships.
Business Development & Sales
- Identify new construction and maintenance opportunities and target clients including developers, property managers, and architects.
- Drive new business through prospecting, networking, and cold outreach, managing the full sales cycle.
- Build and maintain relationships with multi-site clients to ensure consistent service and scalable growth.
- Develop national sales strategies targeting regional and multi-location accounts.
- Partner with operations and account teams to onboard clients and implement retention strategies.
- Collaborate across departments to develop and present tailored, profitable proposals.
Marketing & Brand Management
- Lead marketing strategy to support sales and boost brand visibility across digital platforms.
- Manage company presence at trade shows and industry events.
- Oversee creation and updates of marketing materials and digital content.
CRM & Data Management
- Maintain accurate CRM data for clients, prospects, and pipeline.
- Optimize CRM workflows and reporting to improve team efficiency.
- Integrate CRM with service platforms to streamline onboarding and tracking.
- Utilize tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Apply knowledge of service tracking tools such as Procore, ServiceTrade, FMX, and UpKeep.
Industry Knowledge & Reporting
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategy.
- Identify growth markets and build strategic partnerships with national firms.
- Tailor approaches for client segments including retail, healthcare, and education.
- Deliver accurate forecasts, pipeline reports, and marketing performance insights.
- Track KPIs including client acquisition, retention, and service expansion.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of proven success in business development, sales, or account management, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Industry Preference: Familiarity with construction trades, facilities maintenance, general contracting, architecture, or related professional services is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in presentation software and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience using and managing CRM systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, or Microsoft Dynamics for sales tracking and reporting.
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, strategic thinker, and a strong collaborator.
