The Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development. The primary objective of the Animal Resource program is to facilitate the use of animals in research and teaching at Georgia State University while assuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Animal Resources program maintains responsibilities in animal procurement, animal housing and daily care, the provision of veterinary care, health surveillance and preventative care, assisting investigators and their staff with animal procedures, and the care, maintenance and replacement of relevant equipment and facilities.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position is responsible for basic husbandry procedures of lab animals including changing cages, room sanitation, monitoring health and reporting issues to the veterinary team alongside of the other Lab Animal Technicians at GSU.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintains routine record keeping of items such as environmental conditions, animal inventory, and daily husbandry activities.
- Handles and restrains animals according to instructions and protocols.
- Observe and communicate animal health conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma and 6 months of experience working with animals (preferably in a laboratory setting). Must be familiar and comfortable with animal research.
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior working experience with laboratory animals.
- Great attention to detail.
