We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher who is passionate about uncovering deep user insights and shaping meaningful product experiences. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving the research strategy and execution for our products, influencing both design and business decisions. You’ll combine qualitative and quantitative methods to bring the voice of the user into every stage of the product lifecycle, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to ensure we deliver solutions that are intuitive, impactful, and aligned with user needs.
What you will do:
- Lead User Research: Plan, conduct, and analyze a range of user research studies, including usability testing, ethnographic studies, contextual inquiries, user interviews, surveys, and diary studies to gather both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Define Research Strategy: Develop and implement research roadmaps, ensuring a deep understanding of target users and their needs throughout the product lifecycle.
- Data Synthesis & Reporting: Analyze research data, identify key trends and insights, and communicate findings clearly through reports, presentations, and workshops. Provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to align research goals with product objectives, and provide evidence-based recommendations that influence the design process.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor software design partners on UX research best practices and, where appropriate, coach evaluative research execution within the design team.
- User Advocacy: Champion the voice of the user within the company, ensuring that user insights are prioritized in decision-making across product development.
- Research Tools & Methods: Stay current with the latest UX research methods, tools, and best practices, continuously evolving research techniques to adapt to new challenges.
This is a hybrid-remote role, with the expectation to work from our San Francisco offices at least half-time.
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- Experience: 5+ years of professional UX research experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your work across a variety of projects (preferably in wearable tech, consumer electronics, health tech, or mobile apps).
- Research Expertise: Extensive experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, field studies, and A/B testing.
- Technical Acumen: Ability to learn software and hardware constraints in order to assess and plan for how they impact user experiences.
- Data-Driven: Proficiency in analyzing user data and synthesizing insights to drive design decisions. Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar) and presenting findings to non-technical audiences.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to senior executives, product teams, and other stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking, able to derive actionable insights from complex data and help drive strategic product decisions.
- Collaboration: Proven experience working in cross-functional teams and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
- Degree: A degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with the wellness and wearable technology industry is a plus.
- Experience working with products that touch both hardware and software is especially valued.
- Experience working with international groups and distributed teams would be a great preparation for this role.
