RouteSmart Technologies is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Operations Research Analyst to join our Research & Development team. Reporting to the Director of Research & Development, this full-time exempt position plays a key role in the development and enhancement of routing solvers within the RouteSmart products.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations research, network analysis, and software development, with exceptional programming skills. You’ll work closely with a collaborative team to design new algorithmic solutions, improve existing routing solvers, and contribute to the evolution of our product offerings.
The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000–$110,000 per year. RouteSmart Technologies, Inc. has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the U.S., and base pay will vary based on experience.
This role is preferred as hybrid, with regular in-person collaboration at our Columbia, MD office. Candidates living within 50 miles are ideal in order to work onsite several days per week.
However, we will consider the right candidate for remote work if domiciled in one of the following states: Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, DC, Virginia, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Washington.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance routing solvers for RouteSmart products using strong programming skills
- Propose algorithmic solutions to complex routing problems
- Analyze and improve performance and quality of existing routing solvers
- Identify and correct bugs in routing algorithms
- Collaborate with team members to integrate new features and improvements
- Leverage advanced programming skills to build scalable, high-performance routing solver solutions
- Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned
- Strong software development skills in C++
- Solid foundation in operations research and network analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Minimal travel required
Education & Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in software development, algorithm design, or related technical roles
- Progress toward or completion of an advanced degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience developing software for routing or network analysis preferred
- Familiarity with GIS software is a plus
