Position: Customer Service & Billing Specialist
Duration: 3 Months
Pay Rate: $28 - $29/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Collections Manager, the Customer Service and Billing Specialist plays a key role in managing student accounts receivable, billing, and collections for Tuition & Sponsorships, Housing, and Non-student accounts. This position supports both customer service and billing functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts and providing guidance to debtors regarding payment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and follow up on collection activities for various account types.
- Prepare analytical reports and summaries for senior management.
- Maintain ledgers, workbooks, and collection files.
- Communicate with debtors and external agencies to resolve account issues.
- Issue payment agreements and advise on alternative payment solutions.
- Support billing team with sponsor credit memos and returned item entries.
- Respond to inquiries via phone, CRM, and in-person.
- Assist in training new employees and auditing their work.
- Maintain aging reports and track collection progress.
- Support customer service team during peak periods.
- Perform reconciliation of receivable accounts and coordinate necessary adjustments.
- Prepare documentation for internal collections and write-offs.
- Work variable schedules during peak periods as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, accounts receivable, and collections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with accuracy and meet deadlines.
- Effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
- Knowledge of internal controls and cash handling procedures.
- Familiarity with general business and administrative policies.
- Team-oriented with collaborative skills.
- Ability to train coworkers and support cross-functional teams.
