📝 About the Role
We are looking for an experienced payroll and accounting specialist who will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks and some general accounting. The Payroll and Accounting Specialist will review employee information and working hours, prepare and process payroll, maintain accurate payroll records and additional accounting tasks.
📌 Key Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the finance and HR departments to process biweekly payroll
- Own biweekly payroll process for Second Nature in UKG
- Maintain payroll systems
- Process all necessary payments pertaining to employee withholdings
- Enter financial data and transactions into the general ledgers
- Reconcile general ledger postings to quarterly and annual reports
- Work with HR to maintain and fund insurance plans, 401K, HSA, and FSA employee accounts
- Collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
- Collaborate with other departments to complete adjustments for raises, bonuses, commission, retro pay, etc.
- Review financial documents for accuracy and reconcile accounts
- Check timesheets for accuracy
- Enter data into databases and spreadsheets
- Process paper checks for distribution as needed
- Prepare reports weekly, quarterly, annually
- Provide support for payroll tax filings
- Ensure account balances are correct
- Resolve payroll errors
- Ensure that payroll goes out in timely manner
- Ad hoc reporting as well as special projects as needed
📌 Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of payroll and state unemployment taxes, including gaining nexus
- Experience with UKG software (specifically UKG Pro)
- Working knowledge of NetSuite
- Intermediate to advanced Excel experience
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work with time constraints in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Data and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
