Job Purpose
The Billing Clerk supports Med-Metrix., in its Denial Management process by locating and processing all incoming payments from carriers on behalf of our hospital clients. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and mindful of time frames associated with each account while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
• Utilizing in-house software to periodically post payments
• Printing weekly and monthly reports detailing payments made directly to our clients
• Confirming direct payments and entering updated payment information into the database
• Keeping track of fees associated with the appeal process
• Navigating client hospitals’ databases to locate patients’ accounts and printing associated pay screens
• Creating end-of-the-month reports using Microsoft Excel and Word
• Working closely with the Finance Department to eliminate account-related discrepancies
• Helping identify billing trends
• Tracking billing and appeal totals
• Data entry into hospital systems
Position Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word
• Excel and Outlook with the ability to learn various in-house applications
• Solid math skills and proficiency with numbers
• Previous experience as a bank teller or in a related position a strong plus
• Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
